The major diagnostic criteria for Vascular Type EDS are

The presence of any two or more of the major criteria is highly indicative of the diagnosis and laboratory testing is strongly recommended.

The minor diagnostic criteria are

  • Acrogeria
  • Hypermobility of small joints
  • Tendon and muscle rupture
  • Talipes equinovarus (clubfoot)
  • Early onset varicose veins
  • Arteriovenous, carotid-cavernous sinus fistula
  • Pneumothorax/pneumohemothorax
  • Gingival recession
  • Positive family history, sudden death in (a) close relative(s)
