Start with a complete physical examination and family history evaluation. Testing in the laboratory then depends on the availability of protein or gene based tests and the confidence with which the examiner can come to a clinical diagnosis. We suggest that if Vascular EDS (type IV) is a question that the diagnosis be confirmed with testing.
