FDA Seeks Consumer Representatives for Advisory Committees Print E-mail

This opportunity comes to EDNF from our membership in NORD (National Organization for Rare Disorders).

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will host a public meeting on April 30 in Rockville, Maryland, to discuss the role of consumer representatives on FDA Advisory Committees. Representatives of patient organizations are invited to participate. The meeting is intended for individuals and organizations interested in nominating, or serving as, consumer representatives to FDA's advisory committees and panels.

Advisory committees are made up of experts from outside the agency that FDA turns to for help on a range of scientific, technical, and policy issues including those associated with the evaluation of human and veterinary drugs, medical devices, foods and other regulated products.

It isn't necessary to be a doctor, scientist, or health care professional to serve as a consumer representative on an advisory committee.
